Singapore: Day 1 and 2

Hey, all!

Well, to start off with I will talk about the flight. First of all Singapore International Airlines have always been one of my faveourites. The service has always been good and the quality of the flying was excellent. We actually ran ahead of schedule. Hot diggity daffodils! Problem I was too early for my Mum to pick me up. So there I was jet lagged and hot at around six in the morning. Sighage.

I pretty much slept until almost two. Then I woke up and we went shopping. We went to a supermarket and bought the foods we used to eat as little kids. Including stuff like vitagen of all things. A & W brand root beer, and all that other crap.

I was with my Mum, my sister and Aunties. We went to the stores they used to go to a lot. This was important for my Mum in the way she caught up with her sisters. I was bored because they, well, looked up stuff that was boring as hell to me. Shoes, clothes. But we ate some pretty good food.

The next day I caught up with my old freind. Derek. Man, me and him went through some times together. We were like brothers me and him. So after more shopping with my family (and having yam cha, kick ass!) I split and caught the bus and train. Singapore's MRT and bus system are very reasonably priced in my opinion. It's also efficient, clean, safe and reliable. I got to the train station pretty quickly. There me and my bro caught up. We had some beers and hung out. It included checking out anime and comics Smiley He took me back to his place and showed me his parents (who still remembered me! Smiley) His place is pretty kick ass. Then I took the bus and train home. Now, this is where the blog get's really interesting. I had bought a book (for a very reasonable $2) which was a guide to the whole system. So, I took the train. That was about twenty minutes or so. Quick efficient and coolled, right? Then I walk to the bus terminal which is next to the station. So far so good. I ask a few questions, and realising that no matter where you go staff and station and terminals aren't really all that good at knowing their routes, I looked up the map I realised I needed a differant bus line. Anyway, these kids asked me if I needed help. Wasn't that nice? So, anyway I waited patiently and got the bus when it arrived. Another thing I realised, that bus drivers everywhere tend to be surly, growly and ugly looking buggers. I had a vision of going to the Netherlands and seeing a big tall white guy going 'Ja, whaddya want?' Sigh. I had the list of the bus stops in front of me. I kept track of where I was going. Kind of. Sometimes we passed the stops without getting a good look. So I pressed the button a couple of times just in case. Finally I get the right stop. The driver was okay. A bit grouchy but overall good at his job. Hail to the Bus Driver! The Bus Driver Man! Anyway, I got home. Turns out it is past midnight and Mum was out of her mind with worry. She even cried into my chest. Sigh. My phone had gone flat and I didn't remember my Aunt's home number. Sometimes you realise that you are still a kid in your parent's eyes.

Today I go to Little India. Wish me luck!
